Radiotherapy Mask Art:
As well as creating bespoke art commissions and original gallery pieces, David specializes in radiotherapy art, transforming clients radiotherapy masks into powerful sculptures and lasting tributes.
These are known as memory masks or radiotherapy memory masks— unique artworks that honour strength and resilience through a deeply personal sculptural form.
International delivery available. Personal UK delivery by Artist David Buffrey is possible for larger installations.
Artist Statement
As a metal sculptor, I create abstract works that explore the full range of the human condition, capturing the strength, beauty, love, conflict, and curiosity that shape our lives.
Central to my practice is the challenge of working with thousands of high-grade stainless-steel nuts. Each sculpture is meticulously MIG-welded, ground, refined, and polished to achieve a unified and enduring form.
To ensure durability and longevity, each sculpture is finished with an electrostatically applied powder coating-typically a crystal clear lacquer, though a wide range of colour options are available at the client’s request.
Every piece represents a milestone in my artistic journey, showcasing the ongoing evolution of my skills and vision.
My aim is to create original & distinctive works.
I strive to produce pieces that are visually striking, rare, and thought-provoking, making a unique and lasting statement in any space.

Radiotherapy Mask Art
Commission a Radiotherapy Memory Mask
Commissioning a Radiotherapy Memory Mask artwork can be a powerful way to express hope and strength after treatment. The process involves creating a unique piece of art using a custom-fitted mask. The finished artwork can be made to stand on a table or if preferred, to hang on a wall.
To ensure durability and longevity, each Memory Mask is finished with an electrostatically applied powder coating-typically a crystal clear lacquer, though a wide range of colour options are available at the client’s request.
Simply email to discuss your requirements and the estimated timescale for the commission. Once completed, your original mask can either be respectfully disposed of or returned along with the Memory Mask sculpture.
Keep in mind that since each piece is custom-made, payment in full is required before production, and the artwork is non-returnable after purchase.
